Pixellator: Mrs. Pix – “Vintage” Black and White

Exhibitionism, Erotic Art, Lifestyle

This photo set came about on a day when we set out for Mrs. Pix to do some nude hiking. The skies were overcast, but we made the assumption that the day would eventually clear (as usually happens in our part of the world), but it turned out that the weather turned even more inclement, not just cloudy, but developing into rain. This was very disappointing, leading us to abort our trip, but rather than just turn around and go home, we looked for an inviting spot where we might nab a few defiant pics in spite of the weather.

So … though it is not obvious, all of the pics here were taken with Mrs. Pix boldly stepping out of our car to pose in the misty rain; not on some wilderness trail, but on the side of a well-traveled open road. In the last of the photos, taken last chronologically, you can see water forming a puddle at bottom left, as she stood naked in the rain, bare feet in the growing mud.

Unfortunately, the natural light sucked. Consequently, the full color versions of these shots are rather bad, save just one or two. I discovered, however, that projected into black and white, these photos all had the somewhat haunting feel of really old black and white photographs – the kind you find in hand-me-down family photos from the early 1900’s. Thus, rather than regarding this venture as a total loss, I decided to embrace that retro feel and produce this set as a bit of pseudo-early-1900’s erotica.

Enjoy ...

Have to ask, why the oval rather than a blur?

Interesting you should ask about the oval. I actually tried blurring and it just came out a mess no matter how I tried it. After failing a number of times, I thought about how in vintage porn or tabloids (I'm talkin' 1960's here, not early 1900's) publishers would use the ugly black bar across the eyes to obscure, so I thought about doing that. But that seemed just too destructive to the feel of the photo. So I tried blocking with grey rather than black, which seemed less harsh, then with oval rather than rectangle, then with some noise added to make it less harsh still. So using a full blockout seemed more consistent with the vintage feel, and I just softened it up a bit to try to make it a bit less harsh and blend just a bit better.
